What was your most memorable moment?
Cuverville Antarctica was magical. When we arrived and getting ready to take the zodiac to shore, there were a few penguins on a couple of hilltops. It looked like it was going to be a quick landing with a few photographic opportunities. As we were heading towards shore, droves of penguins were porpoising towards shore with us. Our landing was perfectly timed to the breeding migration of the Gentoo penguins. Thousands of penguins descended upon the landing area and it felt like they waited for us to arrive. I didn't want to leave.

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
The zodiac excursions were very enjoyable. Being out there on the water, close to the icebergs and swimming wildlife, and listening to the glaciers thunder was exhilarating.
Tell us about the expedition team
We had a fantastic expedition team. They were all so excited to venture out with us. Their knowledge of the land and wildlife is awesome. When we saw an enormous tabular iceberg, they even looked up and gave us the name and details of the iceberg during the evening recap.
Tell us about the Seaventure
Seaventure is a great small ship for the trip to Antarctica. The only negative was the cabin temperature was hard to regulate. The food on board is delicious and I would not hesitate to take another trip aboard the Seaventure.
Tell us about Ushuaia
The Arakur hotel that was included in the itinerary is a 5 star hotel. Get the bar food, it is great.
Something Else?
If you want pristine ice, and plenty of penguins then go on the first voyage out in November. There were plenty of King penguin chicks to see, even in early summer.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Do not hesitate to go in early November. It's the beginning of summer but that is when you will see the most ice, cleanest snow, and still plenty of penguin chicks.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I hope they keep Antarctica a continent with no nation ownership. It is nice to see regulations that keeps the land pristine and the wildlife protected.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
The videos help. Nothing can completely prepare you for the experience that is to come. The experience of being in Antarctica cannot be fully described on paper or even told. All five senses are stimulated as you walk on this continent.
