Joanne's Trip Date:

What was your most memorable moment?
"Camping!" We were expecting tents, but they had you dig a hole in the snow and that's where we slept! We were very toasty in the sleeping bags. Also, the Polar blunge, below the Antarctica circle! Beautiful sunny warm day.
Which of the following best describes your adventure?

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
They were a blast! Very safe. The drivers were also the scientists, explorers, etc, so every trip was full of interesting and exciting information. They would, not only take you to your destination, but cruise to where the action was: whales, seals, etc. Most rememberable: The Whales!
Tell us about the expedition team
They were all very knowledgeable and friendly, but also SO passionate about everything they did with you. It was infectious! Hanna, Leonie, Dan, Danny Boy. I really enjoyed the history lecture!
Tell us about the Seaventure
Fantastic! Cabin was great, we loved having the balcony so we could privately go out and watch the scenery and wildlife go by. And also watch the Drake Skake waves! It was recommended, by you, to have a room on the port side of the ship so we could see Antarctica fisrt thing and it was stunning! Food was excellent. I would absolutely choose this ship again!
Tell us about the Camping
Well, it wasn't like we expected, that is tenting, but soooo glad we did it! Digging a hole in the snow and being in only a sleeping bag was truly an adventure! We were very toasty, tho! I would highly recommend it. Just an FYI, I wanted to camp, Rick was so-so about it; he wanted to do the Polar blunge, and I was so-so about it. We did both and are so glad we did!
Tell us about the Kayaking
This was really enjoyable! So peaceful and serene. Being at water level and so quiet is quite an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!
Something Else?
I'm sure you've heard this before but the scenery goes beyond what any photograph can show you. You have to experience it for yourself. It's also so cool to be able to walk around wildlife that, pretty much, ignores you and just goes about its daily life.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Do and buy exactly what you guys recommend! Cross the "Drake", it's worth the experience - don't fly! Take the smaller ships, less than 500 people, so you can get off the ship and actually be in/on Antarctica to get closer to the land and wildlife.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
This experience has reinforced our idea that we only have this one planet and that we all need to work together to save it.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Kate Higgins, we love you! You were great! Keep up the excellent work!
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Perfectly prepared thanks to you! Very excited, since this is a place I've always wanted to visit.
