What was your most memorable moment?

When the emperor penguin slid across the ice floe and came right up to our zodiac. He was curious and unafraid to examine us for what seemed like an eternity. It was magical and unreal! What a thrill to engage with this majestic creature.

Were Swoop right to recommend Polar Latitudes?

Yes

Tell us about the expedition team

Most all team members were excellent at getting passengers to cooperate without coming across as tyrants; their communication skills were extraordinary. They were knowledgeable and also curious to learn things together with us about topics they didn't know so much about. I enjoyed their company. They all were so helpful and generous with their time - there are too many for me to name them all.

Tell us about the Seaventure

Was a wonderful ship for its design and size. Sadly, Polar Latitudes sold it. My key complaint: all laundry was washed at 40 degrees C. This does not count as proper laundry service. Hot water washing will ruin most expedition clothes made by major brands like Smartwool and Icebreaker. The limitations of the laundry service should have been included in the pre-trip info.

Tell us about the Kayaking

One of the best parts of the trip! Marty and Julian were excellent guides. I'd highly recommend.

Something Else?

There were plenty of snacks around, I just wish some of them were good for people who struggle to manage their blood sugar. For instance, having hard boiled eggs available in the early AM.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

Yes, I want to be an Antarctic Ambassador!
