What was your most memorable moment?
There were so many. One really incredible one was when a minke whale played near the zodiacs for over an hour, coming up to look at us and even breathing on us

Tell us about the expedition team
Every single person was super friendly and knowledgeable. Mark was a ton of fun and also a superlative zodiac driver. Jamie was funny and interesting and also a superb photographer. We loved the scurvy lecture by Linda.
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Always felt safe. Mark, Sergey, and Nacho were particularly great drivers. The most memorable was the one with the minke whale, where we also got to step out onto the sea ice. Amazing.
Tell us about the Snorkelling
It was beautiful. The snorkel staff were absolutely incredible. We felt extremely safe and well cared for, because they were all such experts and absolute badasses. Eddie, Birgitta, and Thomas were all fantastic. We didn’t go on every single snorkel outing, because sometimes we wanted to spend more time at a landing site instead. But we did get to see amazing things when we went, like a penguin swimming underwater. I’d recommend going at least once to anyone. Our snorkel group also became like family and even gave each other Christmas presents.
Were Swoop right to recommend Aurora Expeditions?

Tell us about the Greg Mortimer
Alvin, Gerry, and Pel in the dining room were particularly wonderful. All of the crew were always friendly and smiling, and they took great care of us. We would have enjoyed having a window, but the porthole cabin was comfortable and more than large enough…we went to the upper decks when we wanted to watch scenery. There was a ton of space on the ship and it never felt crowded. Having the mud room was great to help keep our cabin clean. The food was generally good…the desserts were too sweet for me, but probably most people like that.
Tell us about Ushuaia
Ushuaia was a charming, clean, and safe city that exceeded our expectations. We did a trip out to Martillo Island to see some Magellanic penguins and would very highly recommend this.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Don’t wait! Go as soon as you can! Choose a ship that goes farther than the end of the peninsula. Every landing will be precious and you want as many of them as you can get.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I was very glad to see how well Antarctica is being protected. There’s a lot of effort going into keeping it pristine and undisturbed by us.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Everyone was great. Super helpful and really put effort into making sure we chose the right trip for us. I would recommend Swoop to anyone and will contact you again when we’re planning another polar trip in the future.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Extremely! My expectations were through the roof. They were not only met, but exceeded.
