ALL OF IT!! Kayaking with humpback whales, seeing some much wildlife, the indescribable landscapes, the overwhelming awe, the incredible captain, staff, and crew, and all the open minded and flexible passengers who brought so much positive energy to the experience.

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Zodiac excursions were great. Fantastic way to explore the water and different areas. And super fun and efficient way to get to and from our landing sites. I felt safe on the zodiacs, and felt that the staff took our safety on the zodiacs very seriously.
Tell us about the expedition team
The expedition team was 10/10. So knowledgeable, passionate, fun, genuine, honest, and just all around lovely people. Chris was a expedition leader. All the other staff were fantastic as well - Lucia, Juan, Valeria, Chloe, Pierre, Mal, Andi, Andy, Galina. All of the lectures were interesting and informative. My favourites were probably about the wildlife - the penguin lecture (Lucia), orca and humpback whales (Pierre). But I really appreciated all of the lectures, on an array of topics.
Tell us about the Ortelius
Ortelius was awesome. Loved being on a smaller boat, with a smaller number of passengers. The cabin was just the right size for two people. Ship was easy to navigate. Lounge area was a nice place to convene with other passengers. The dining room was always spotless and the service unmatched. The crew always had a smile on their face and enough energy to light up a room. The food was plentiful, there was such diversity in the meals, tons of options, and super delicious!! I was surprised how great it all was.
Tell us about Buenos Aires
N/A. I did not spend any time in BA, other than changing airports.
Tell us about Ushuaia
Nice, small, mountain town. I would have liked to spend more time there to explore the National Park and hiking that is available. But I just spent a day and a night. We had delicious food. Did some souvenir shopping and wandering around. It was a good port town.
Something Else?
I thought this would be a once in a lifetime trip, but I could absolutely see myself going back one day. I am so grateful to have experienced this wonderful place, and couldn't be more thankful for the effort behind the scenes to make it possible.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Be flexible and open minded. Bring the right gear. Be prepared for long days and some sleepless nights (they are worth it). Take it all in. Appreciate the opportunity to experience a place that fills you with wonder and awe.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I just continue to be so grateful for the opportunity to travel and experience the world. I have a new appreciation for the formation and beauty of glaciers and sea ice.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Tell passengers to bring a USB key for the slideshow, photo sharing.
