The first glimpse of a massive iceberg, close up. So stunning that the captain circled the ship around it so everyone could get a view.

Tell us about the Sea Spirit
Great crew/staff, outstanding service on all levels, personal attention, lovely cabin kept absolutely spotless. The only negatives were the food - often only lukewarm & not very tasty and the entertainment - given the stellar level of all other staff, this aspect was underwhelming. I would choose this ship again.
Tell us about the Kayaking
This was the most incredible experience EVER!!! Our guides (Elo & Loup) were top-notch experts, even quickly & safely handling a kayak that flipped - and the occupants continued to kayak afterwards. They were extremely skilled, patient, helped improve our skills, and took amazing photos that were shared at the end of the trip. The guides took this already amazing trip to the next level.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Attend the webinar offered. Pack with the list given as a reference - it really helped me consolidate & bring enough for the trip but remain under luggage weight allowances. (The one item I didn't see on the list: a band to hold eyeglasses on the head.) Bring ALL the seasickness meds.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I hate the cold & snow, and the trip was pursued primarily because my partner wanted to visit all 7 continents. I wasn't sure I was going to find the trip all that enjoyable - especially given so long on a small boat - but this trip far exceeded every expectation. I have traveled the world, and this is one of my all-time favorite trips. I can't believe I'm saying this, but not only would I come back, I would take the longer 21-day trip! The environment, the wildlife, the intricate web that affects us all globally... it's breathtaking.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
I was very prepared thanks to Swoop's attention to detail over the past few weeks, though I was less than excited to go. That quickly changed as soon as I saw that first iceberg.
