What was your most memorable moment?
There were so many memorable moments! If I had to choose, it would be our days in Antarctica, the hike to the caldera on Penguin Island, our first landing on the continent, the hikes to the top of hills for magnificent views, the zodiac cruises to see wildlife and icebergs. Getting to see the wildlife in their natural habitat was nothing short of amazing!

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
I LOVED the zodiac cruises - the Expedition team was awesome, they showed us such amazing things, wildlife, icebergs, and kept us safe getting in and out of the zodiacs.
Tell us about the expedition team
The Expedition team was phenomenal! Led by Sara Jenner, every single team member was knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and all very passionate about what they do. I enjoyed all the lectures, I learned so much about Penguins, Whale, Seal, Ice, Shackleton. Bill Smith from Scotland was a standout team member, he is 79 and so full of life, I loved his philosophy of 'engage brain' - look, see, think, do and listen, hear, understand. William gave interesting presentations about Shackleton, Jakub's talks about glaciers, Sasha's talk about becoming a guide, Jens stories of his experiences, Simon's experience with birds, Jess, Felicity, Elizabeth, Meike, Monika, Adam, Gonzalo, Jerry, Monika, Timjen - I will remember their names for many years, they created wonderful memories for so many on this trip!
Tell us about the Hondius
Hondius was a wonderful ship, our cabin was comfortable, the hotel staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was wonderful, and the staff even better. I would definitely choose this ship again!
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Plan to have a couple of days in Ushuaia before the Expedition cruise. Pay attention to all of the information provided by Swoop. Be physically ready to fully enjoy each of the landings.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Yes, my love and respect for the animals has increased, and I am so glad I was able to learn more about them and all of the places that we visited.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Just that everyone was very helpful preparing us for this adventure!
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Before going, I wasn't sure what to expect, I had never known anyone that had been there. Swoop help me feel prepared and excited about the trip. Even with all the preparation, being there was so much better and beautiful than I could have expected.
