Were Swoop right to recommend Aurora Expeditions?

Yes

Tell us about Zodiac excursions

Brilliantly executed. We were well trained for entering and exiting the zodiacs so we felt safe even returning to the ship in rough seas

Tell us about the expedition team

The expedition team were friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. The lectures were very interesting Heather was very enthusiastic and interesting but so too were Christian, Vicki, Piotr, Christian’s and Dot and everyone else who spoke

Tell us about the Sylvia Earle

Everything was great

Something Else?

The sound on the pre- trip seminar was a little hard to hear and accompanying text would have been handy. Also, a picture of the type of electric sockets would be much easier to understand than descriptions. They used Australian three point sockets like Australia but that was the one plug I didn’t bring!!! Luckily we had a power board that we had been planning to plug into the adapter that worked fine. Overall, we had a marvellous time and Hannah was very helpful when we were confused about preparations Thank you very much Jenny

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Don’t be afraid. It is easier that you expect.😁 One last thing, take a towel to stand on when you are waiting to do the plunge. Standing on the metal steps freezes your feet far more than the icy water does and they take longer to recover than the rest of your body

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

I realise that the Antarctic is the only uninhabited ( more or less), natural wildlife habitat and that the whales seals and penguins can live happily in an environment with no trees or shrubs, just pythoplankton and krill that we can’t see. I also realised the importance of whales and the Antarctic current for maintaining sea currents around the globe not just in Antarctica

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

Already mentioned

How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?

Very excited and nervous. Although well prepared. We had excellent, weather with only one afternoon of mild wind so our easy experience may not be typical but for us it was a luxury cruise with well organised internet g excusrions

Would you consider another trip to Antarctica with Swoop?

No

Would you be interested in travelling to Patagonia with Swoop?

No

Would you be interested in travelling to The Arctic with Swoop?

Yes
