We particularly enjoyed the adventures (kayaking and camping) that afforded a much closer view of the wildlife and scenery!

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
These were fantastic - don't undervalue them! I felt very safe.
Tell us about the expedition team
Go to the lectures; the guides were really excellent on the ship and out on the field. I loved that they were able to have meals with us too.
Tell us about the Ortelius
The ship was much better than I expected! It was very clean and the staff did a great job keeping it that way. I loved that it was an "expedition" style ship. It was not exactly a cruise but it had so many of those types of nice things (like servers who learned your names, buffet and plated meals), that it really did not feel like anything was missing. There was so much great deck space too and plenty of space to hang out. The open bridge policy was a real value add too.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Don't have any expectations! Got out and do all the things they suggest, even if the weather isn't perfect. Get off the ship as often as you can; be out on the decks as often as you can.
