Tell us about Zodiac excursions
I enjoyed the zodiac excursion and felt safe. The expedition team did an excellent job handling them and making sure we were not operated if conditions were not safe. Without the zodiac excursions we would not have been able to view the seals and see the whales up close like we did.
Tell us about the expedition team
They were first rate. I learned so much from them about the various types of wildlife, the type of research being done, the history of Antarctica and why it's so important to the rest of the world. It was obvious they were intentional in interacting with travelers and made sure that solo travelers had a meal companion.
Tell us about the World Explorer
I loved the World Explorer. It exceeded my expectations as far as the accommodations and the food. The crew worked HARD to make sure we were happy and well taken care of. I was impressed by how the food service crew was able to feed so many people in a relatively short period of time 3 times a day.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
I would recommend people really pay attention to all of the information (and it's a lot!) provided in order to prepare adequately for the trip.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I was already a nature lover before the trip but this experience made me even more so. I am much more aware of how very fragile our ecosystem is and I certainly better understand why it is so very important to keep Antarctica as it is.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
I feel like Swoop adequately prepared me for this trip and gave very good recommendations when planning for it. My only complaint is that sometimes navigating the website/portal was challenging. There was so much information given and finding information on a particular topic wasn't always intuitive. I would also recommend that Swoop clarify the recommendations on tipping that the daily amount suggested was just for the ship crew and not including the expedition team.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
I felt I was completely prepared and was so very excited from the moment I signed up!
