What was your most memorable moment?

Out of everything - exploring the 7th continent, eating ice from the ocean, feeling like I'm at the end of the world, seeing all the wildlife with my own two eyes - my most memorable moments were meeting all of my new friends on this trip.

Were Swoop right to recommend Quark Expeditions?

Yes

Tell us about Zodiac excursions

I felt completely safe the entire time. I felt that the staff were aware and ready to act at any moment in any scenario. They were also super informative during each zodiac cruise - from the wildlife, to the rocks, to the icebergs, and everything else! My most memorable moment was grabbing a chunk of ice out of the water and bringing it to a bartender on board to put in my drink!

Tell us about the expedition team

Gosh I wish I had the time to personalize a message for each staff member. Every single one I interacted with were incredibly nice, helpful, informative, and clearly trying to make sure everyone felt safe, felt like they got the pictures they wanted, and had a good time. For myself the stand out staff members were Kelly, Melissa, Hein, Nick, and Corey.

Tell us about the World Explorer

Cabin was fantastic, the amenities were fantastic. We had an issue with our A/C and the staff were at our cabin within a minute of hanging up with reception to fix it. Even then we had more staff come by a couple days later to ensure everything was working properly. Housekeeping did an amazing job making sure we had everything we needed, from coffee and water refills to clean beds after coming back from a zodiac cruise.

Something Else?

I want to shout out William Walter - the main housekeeper with our ship/voyage. He deserves a raise! Easily the most personable, helpful, and just quite charming staff member that my roommate and I both had the pleasure of interacting with!!

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

My friends and I all agreed that ski goggles should be added to the packing list. If it happens to be snowing or raining, especially heavily, the goggles would have been very convenient when cruising around in zodiacs or hiking.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

Yes, and I'm still trying to figure out how to put it into words! Since my return I've grabbed some books on Antarctic expeditions from the bookstore, I've told my friends about the 11 foot average wingspan of an Albatros (didn't even know what an Albatros was before this trip), and most importantly it opened my eyes to the amount of solo female traveling is possible!

How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?

I felt pretty prepared and extremely excited!
