Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Yes I loved them. I felt safe. Some of the embarkations were risky but they were very prepared to help us.
Tell us about the expedition team
Ashley was the best possible. Her deep knowledge of the area and boat handling was evident. Penguin Poo was definitely the most fun lecture. Scotty stole everyone's hearts and imagination.
Tell us about the Greg Mortimer
The cabin was very nice. Especially the heated floor in the head. Very good for drying our gear! The space was ample. The food was plentiful, varied and fresh. My only complaint was that many things (like fish and meat) were over cooked which is common when serving so many at once. I would definitely choose this ship.
Tell us about Punta Arenas
I did not have many expectations. The town was larger than I had expected. The hotel, although a casino, was very nice.
Tell us about Santiago
We really enjoyed the initial tour of the city. It gave us a nice overview. Our second day was a Sunday and we found that nothing was open to do. Our hotel did not have a restaurant open and we were in a residential area with no other restaurants. We had to walk a long distance to find something to eat and the staff at the hotel did not seem to have any recommendations. We had trouble using Uber. Then would never come to our location but ask us to walk to a different place and we could not seem to connect. Everyone had told us not to take taxis. The hotel was very pleasant but I would not recommend it for a Sunday stay. The tour to Valparaiso was a bit disappointing. I had expected a more vibrant city and port. The lunch that was provided was in a wonderful restaurant and was a treat.
Tell us about Ushuaia
I like Ushuaia very much and would have like a bit more time there. The hotel was good but so far removed from the town that we had little time to explore.

Choose a ship like Greg Mortimer.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
I found the web site difficult to navigate. Having all the info on the website accessed from many points kept me going back and forth finding things I had already read and perhaps missing other things. A more linear format would have helped me. I need to print these things in order to read them and remember them! It is my age... The Zoom conference was very helpful.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Very excited and pretty well prepared.
