Life before Swoop

Born in Toronto and raised in Santiago, Chile, I had always dreamt of the day I could start travelling on my own. So as soon as I could, I did!

After having my first work experience in Europe, and doing lots of short trips throughout the continent, it was time for a big adventure – so my husband and I took off on a 15-month stint through Oceania, Southeast Asia, Southern Africa and more.

I came back to Chile for a job as an Antarctic travel consultant, where I could help fellow travellers fulfil their dream of visiting the White Continent.

My Antarctic experience

I had just come back from backpacking around the world when I got the opportunity to visit Antarctica. I was left in awe when I witnessed this incredibly pristine landscape of blue-tinged glaciers, perfectly sculptured icebergs and untamed wildlife.

My favourite part was kayaking through the near-freezing sea, enjoying the silence as we slowly paddled past ice floes topped with resting seals. The polar plunge was another highlight – I had been waiting for days to jump into the extremely cold water and be that much more in contact with nature.
