Susan's Ship:
PlanciusWhat was your most memorable moment?
Cruising iceberg alley and getting up close and personal with the seals and penguins there. Lots of memorable moments crossing the "dreaded Drake." We saw four or five orcas frolicking alongside the ship on our last night in Antarctica. Really a great way to end.
Which of the following best describes your adventure?
Great holiday
On a scale of 0 to 10, how likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend or colleague?
9 out of 10
Tell us about the wildlife
I was only able to go ashore once due to physical limitations, but even from the zodiac I was able to see lots of penguins, seals and whales. Lots of good wildlife shots.
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
I was only able to go ashore once due to physical limitations, but saw lots just riding around in the zodiacs on every excursion.
Tell us about the expedition team
The Plancius crew was terrific! Very knowledgeable expedition leaders and the hotel staff (cleaners and servers) were tops.
Tell us about the Plancius
Only 114 passengers so we got to meet just about everybody. Cabin was small but comfortable. Food was good and plentiful. I would choose this ship again and am thinking about taking it for a northern lights cruise.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Be prepared to walk on very uneven terrain and water landings.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Want to go back to see the icebergs again and go to South Georgia Island.
