The first time we disembarked in Coureville Island and there they were...thousands of Gentoo Penguins. Everything was a highlight.

Tell us about the wildlife
I particularly enjoyed being close to the penguins, despite their stench. I loved seeing the elephan seals. They were larger than expected and I got some good shots of them. Watching the whales was a highlight.
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
The best cruise was going around chasing the icebergs and seeing humpback whales nearby.
Tell us about the expedition team
The team was outstanding. David is a serious and thoughtful leader and helped me feel comfortable on land and on the zodiacs. I enjoyed the lecture about the ocean currents and loved seeing Daniel take his pictures, then having them on the monitor near reception. Andreas lecture about the indiginous people was enlightening.
Tell us about the Plancius
Our cabin was pleasant and well located. There was plenty of room for the two of us and we did not run into issues. I enjoyed sitting in the observation room and cI chatting with fellow passengers or just watching the world go by...I appreciate the unlimited coffee and tea and treats. I was not enamored with the meals--too many sauces for me, but it was tasty and satisfactory. I didn't go hungry. Dr Idris and Julia went out of their way for me and I appreciate it.

It was all a pleasant surprise.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Check on the weather conditions. I overpacked and did not need half the clothes I brought with me.
