Tell us about the wildlife
We saw so many humpback whales and got closer than imagined. While kayaking, the penguins would porpoise next to us and then zoom under the boat. Also, while kayaking, we had a seal that came up next to us a couple of times.

Our camping trip was cancelled because of rain.
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Absolutely! First zodiac landing - as we were coming to the shore, we had an unexpected wave come across the front. I was baptized by the waters of Antarctica. The expedition team member and I had a great laugh. Second - cruising through all of the ice and getting up close to seals on the ice. Memorable
Tell us about the expedition team
Extremely knowledgeable and friendly - each and every one of them. I had the most interactions with Dan, Eduardo, and Meike. Loved them all but Meike stood out to me.
Tell us about the Hondius
Actually, I didn't really know what to expect. This was my first cruise ever. Our cabin was nice and comfortable. The food was really good. They do need more hooks in the cabins for all the gear that needs to be hung up to dry. Would I choose this ship again - definitely. Potentially for an Arctic adventure. The hotel staff from Michael on down the line were fabulous!!!!
Something Else?
The ship’s operator is exceptional. I had the privilege of meeting some fantastic people and making some new friends. Plus, I was the lucky winner of the onboard photo contest - general category. What a thrill.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Take the time to savor every moment and every view. - even if you are fortunate to go back it will never be the same or as maigcal as the first time
