Customer Rating On return from their adventure we ask customers: “On a scale of 0-10, with 10 being the highest, how likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend or colleague?”
Lesley & Charles' Trip Date:
27th Oct - 20th Nov 2016
Lesley & Charles' Ship:
OrteliusOverall, how was your trip?
We enjoyed everything about the trip - new sights, new people new experiences. Landscapes and wildlife were fantastic and everybody on the ship was friendly and a joy to be with. We have already regaled our grandchildren and would urge them in due time to go on something similar. One highlight was being joined by a Leopard Seal asked zodiaced as was every penguin encounter and our visit to Grytviken.
In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?
Exceeded beyond our wildest expectations and hopes.
Would you visit again?
Yes
How was the service that Swoop provided?
Swoop's service was personal, patient and professional throughout with every arrangement working flawlessly. Although we fairly knew what we wanted, Swoop's input helped enormously leading to our being very happy with everything we experienced. I would change nothing.
How likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend?
10 out of 10
How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?
Best moment - Leopard seal encounter and cruising amongst the ice on a fantastically calm late afternoon. It is difficult to pick out a specific for anything else as all worked flawlessly with the Expedition Team running all excursions efficiently and with unfailing good humour and enthusiasm.
If Swoop arranged some of your travel before/after your voyage. How did we do?
I cannot fault the arrangements or the logistics of everything Swoop did for us. For the future, I think you need to explain that baggage limits within Argentina are lower than on international flights and that the application of these limits can be completely arbitrary and random, from waving through grossly overweight baggage to charging for any excess, even when the same clerk and same flight. They also can insist that overweight cabin baggage goes in the hold with obvious personal security implications.
How would you describe {vessel.title} if talking to somebody potentially interested in going to Antarctica, and what tips would you pass on?
We were in a twin window cabin which meant we had more than ample room and plenty of storage space. The general amenities were good with excellent service in the dining room and bar. The food was plentiful and good, especially for an expedition ship. The crew from the Captain down were always polite and willing to answer questions especially on the bridge. I would recommend Ortelius to anybody who expressed an interest in such an adventure. Its size and the number of passengers made it an ideal vehicle.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Ziplock bags for camera equipment. GoPro camera is a very useful in this environment. Walking poles not needed - get in the way in a zodiac and not very useful on much of the walking. Take throat lozenges with you because of dry air in the ship and the close community.
Anything else? Tell us anything you’d like to share that we forgot to ask! It’s ok to leave this empty too :-)
Please accept our heartfelt thanks for helping to ensure we found what we wanted and for making all the additional arrangements. Include in this all the staff of Swoop with whom we had contact.
