PlanciusOverall, how was your trip?
I stepped on Antarctica - the final continent for me! The combination of the landscapes and wildlife will always be a highlight for me. It is hard to believe that such a place still exists on earth. I mailed a postcard from Port Lockroy, Antarctica! The crew of the Plancius were outstanding. They even remembered my name among all the passengers. Food and services were outstanding. There were many surprises. The Plancius was able to go through the Lemaire Channel for the first time this year, so we were very fortunate. Also, the captain took us to Deception Island and Cape Horn on the way back. I was very fortunate that I was matched up to a great roommate from Finland. I met many people from many different countries, all with very interesting stories.
In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?
It far exceeded my expectations. I had a wonderful time.

How was the service that Swoop provided?
Yes, I am very happy with everything Swoop has done for me. I will recommend your organization to anyone who is interested in an Antarctica Expedition. Everything on the Plancius exceeded my expectations. I will never forget this holiday and I am even considering a northern expedition which would include the Scandinavian countries. (This cannot be done in the near future as my husband has health issues right now that I cannot ignore. Swoop will be the company that I will call when the time is right.)

How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?
I thoroughly enjoyed the landings and the zodiac rides. We landed safely every time thanks to the experience of David Berg, the Expedition Leader and the experienced Expedition Guides. The icebergs and wildlife were amazing, as well as the derelict buildings at the abandoned whaling station. As I mentioned, I mailed a postcard from Port Lockroy. I was grateful that the zodiac excursions were able to accommodate travelers of all ages. Oddly, I will never forget the sounds of Antarctica. You might think it is very quiet, but no. The calving of the icebergs is thunderous and the oxygen released from the ice in the water is just a wonderful sound.
How would you describe {vessel.title} if talking to somebody potentially interested in going to Antarctica, and what tips would you pass on?
The Captain and the staff of the Plancius far exceeded my expectations. The staff and Captain of the Plancius were outstanding. For example, the Captain spotted about 25 whales corralling, and circled these animals for about an hour for our enjoyment! I absolutely made the right choice in these travel arrangements. I will recommend this trip to my travel group because I enjoyed it so much.
If Swoop arranged some of your travel before/after your voyage. How did we do?
Everything went smoothly. I very much appreciate all the effort that Swoop put into this journey for me. Also, thanks for the head wear, the card and the Champagne! They was a great treat! As for your card - I am going to frame it as an Antarctica souvenir.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
I overdressed! I should have been more mindful of the temperatures, but that is something I should have paid more attention to.
