Were Swoop right to recommend Polar Latitudes?

Yes

Tell us about Zodiac excursions

They could be a bit chilly :-) but they were always fun. The only issue is some guides are better than others and it directly impacts the enjoyment and experience.

Tell us about the expedition team

The Polar Latitudes team was incredible. Hannah John's history lectures were phenomenal..all of them! Other outstanding staff members were Hannah Lawson, Ruth Peasey, Dan Brown, Conny Bartl, Mattias Horntrich, and Daniel Finer. We thought that Pablo Barboza was not interested in engaging with passengers and while Randy Bulicka was a nice guy, he was the weakest team member.

Tell us about the Seaventure

The cabin was fine even though the carpeting desperately needs to be replaced. The pillows were horrible though and more comfortable chairs for lounging in the cabin would be nice. The food was really outstanding and I would recommend this ship to friends.

Tell us about the Kayaking

We loved the kayaking but it is somewhat time consuming so while initially disappointed that we would only do 1/2 the outings as compared to when we signed up on Island Sky for 2021, 3-4 outings would be sufficient. Just wished we had gotten to kayak in brash ice. The other group did it twice yet we never did.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

We lucked out with the ship that we had selected but I would tell people to ask about landings and size of the passengers and what that means for landings. Would also recommend not to get a window that looks out on the decking. We had a veranda so it wasn't an issue for us but we originally had a room on the Island Sky that would have opened directly onto the deck which in hindsight would have been horrible to constantly have people walking in front of our sliding glass door.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

Not all team members are equal. It is a small thing but I had questions about flying on the Argentina airline and while it was not Swoop's responsibility to book my flights, your team clearly has flown the airlines and could have answered my question rather than telling me to check the airline website which I had already done and didn't find the answer.

How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?

Very prepared and VERY EXCITED! Just a note about the questions about traveling to Patagonia with Swoop, I answered No since we did the trip with them. We are considering Atacama though and will most likely reach out to Swoop about Atacama for 2025.

Would you consider another trip to Antarctica with Swoop?

No

Would you be interested in travelling to Patagonia with Swoop?

No

Would you be interested in travelling to The Arctic with Swoop?

Yes
