Priscilla & Friends Tan's Trip Date:
14th Dec - 24th Dec 2017
Priscilla & Friends Tan's Ship:
Island SkyOverall, how was your trip?
Polar plunge and SUP were the highlights. I wish there was more wildlife activities. It felt limited sometimes since we can only walk on small paths and there were 100 people together all the time. We had an unfortunate mix of people on board where 1 huge group of tourists (almost half the boat) besmirched the experience for all other guests because of their rudeness but that's not Swoop or the ship operator's fault. The only criticism of the operator's trip is that the dining room was too small to accommodate all guests eating at the same time which is a big fail.
In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?
Fantastic. Great ship, good food, nice staff.
Would you visit again?
Maybe
How was the service that Swoop provided?
John was fantastic and knowledgeable. A few of the other staff we interacted with weren't as good with details but overall good experience.
How likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend?
10 out of 10
If Swoop arranged some of your travel before/after your voyage. How did we do?
It would have been nice to have more detailed information on the charter flights. The hotel in Punta Arenas was nice but again more info would have been nice in advance.
How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?
SUP and shore landings where there were fewer people were the highlight. Expedition staff were great except one who was just a bit too quirky and rough around the edges.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
It's not that cold!
Anything else? Tell us anything you’d like to share that we forgot to ask! It’s ok to leave this empty too :-)
I wish we could have visited places that had denser penguin colonies, and that we could have hiked more inland rather than always just touching the fringes.
