Overall, how was your trip?

The trip met all of our expectations. The weather was beautiful, and we saw everything we came to see, including an Emperor penguin! The trip was bi-lingual, with about 80% of the people German speakers from Switzerland. As such, we weren't able to engage the other people as much as we would have wanted.

In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?

Our Antarctic trip was unbelievable.

Would you visit again?

Maybe

How was the service that Swoop provided?

The people at Swoop were amazing. From the initial recommendations to the very detailed pre-cruise information, we always felt comfortable knowing that they would be there to answer any concerns.

You chose a/an Falklands, South Georgia & Antarctic Adventure experience. How was that experience?

We made this choice based on it including South Georgia. I can't imagine going all the way down there and missing this special place. Our one complaint would be that we signed up for Kayaking that never was offered once we were there. Not sure why we signed up for (and prepared for) activities like Kayaking and snowshoeing that were not available on the ship. If it was weather related, we understand, but our weather and conditions were great. I don't believe there was even any kayaks or snowshoes on board. The dining experience was a bit disappointing. Not because of the quality, which was good, but because of the special dietary needs of my wife. These were detailed beforehand to the ship's operator, but once onboard the staff didn't listen and frankly didn't care. The menu seemed to be geared more to our German counterparts, which is understandable being that most of the ship was German, but we were hoping for simpler and hearty comfort food. We ended up skipping many meals based on on our frustrations with the staff and the menu.

If Swoop arranged some of your travel before/after your voyage. How did we do?

We took care of our own travel arrangements, but Swoop offered good advice. Our documents arrived as expected.

How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?

The landings were great. The expedition staff were very knowledgable and professional. I would recommend staggering the zodiac departures a little to avoid congestion in the boarding area. This will sound terrible, but the German passengers had little consideration for their fellow passengers and absolutely no concept of forming a line. (This also applies to the buffet lines at breakfast and lunch.)

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Pack lighter! The weather was warmer than anticipated. Perhaps a bit of detail on zodiac requirements. For example, I would have brought a different camera bag if I knew that I needed two hands free to enter and exit the zodiac, and work around the life vest.

Anything else? Tell us anything you’d like to share that we forgot to ask! It’s ok to leave this empty too :-)

Swoop was exceptional. I will use you again for the Arctic without hesitation, and have already recommended you to others. I will also (when I have a little more time) post very positive reviews on Trip Advisor. Thanks again for all of your help.
