Avivit's Trip Date:
9th Feb - 24th Feb 2017
Avivit's Ship:
Ocean EndeavourOverall, how was your trip?
Our trip was FANTASTIC! There were too many highlights to name only one... Seeing the Blue whale... 150,000 King Penguins... Glaciers... Glacier cave that was illuminated from withing with the most amazing blues and greens... Black ice... Humpback whales everywhere... Excellent level of customer service and attention to details. The expedition team members' passion, enthusiasm, knowledge and life stories were wonderful to watch and experience. The lectures were excellent and inspiring. The biggest surprise was the food. Food and service for foodies - did not expect that on an expedition ship.
In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?
They say that Life Is Not Measured By the Number of Breaths We Take, But By the Moments That Take Our Breath Away... In Antarctica there are MANY such moments. It exceeded expectations
Would you visit again?
Maybe
How was the service that Swoop provided?
Swoop was great! Especially John who I mainly dealt with. Same as the expedition team - passion, enthusiasm, knowledge ... He actually listened to all my "requirements" and suggested the best voyage that will "make our dream come true" - and it did :) Everybody at Swoop responded very promptly to all my (many) emails and questions with full and useful information.... all the way to the last panicky email I sent the day of our departure regarding our baggage... As I shared with John, the neck and head cover Swoop sent us was the one item we used daily. Thanks so much! The only thing I would add is luggage tags - people seem to notice those so these are great advertisements.
How likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend?
10 out of 10
How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?
We were a bit concerned due to the number of passengers on the boat (approx 200), however - it was very organized and not many long waits. The zodiac excursions and the shore landings were great! I already answered in details about all the rest in the previous section (sorry, got excited :))
How would you describe {vessel.title} if talking to somebody potentially interested in going to Antarctica, and what tips would you pass on?
Ocean Endeavour was surprisingly VERY comfortable. The room was very comfortable (even though my husband and I had to sleep in separate beds...:)) Our cabin was nice and clean with ample storage place. The meals were excellent - very nice selections of food and wine. (The quality of the food exceeded expectations)
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
My advice is to definitely book through a company that has the knowledge and expertise. It may be a once in a life time experience and it is not cheap.... so you want to do it right.
Anything else? Tell us anything you’d like to share that we forgot to ask! It’s ok to leave this empty too :-)
We just came back on Saturday and jumped right back to work on Monday. We need time to "digest" . We will definitely share our photos with you once we had gone through the 4,000 photos and the many many videos... and I will email John if I think of anything else... I just did... :) we were greatly impressed with the Chef... he sat down with all guests that had allergies and created a menu just for them... they all even got their own menu for dinner. VERY impressive!
