Doing our first landing into the peninsula itself. The terrain was amazing and the weather was gorgeous. It is exactly what I imagined Antarctica to be like.

Tell us about the Kayaking
For the price, kayaking was not worth it as we only got about 2-3 hours of total kayaking on the entire voyage. The kayaking was fine. The views were nice and expedition team was awesome, but we are active kayakers and we felt like we were not allowed to explore much and had to stay at paces of less experienced paddlers. I know the restrictions were for safety but was a bit disappointed with kayaking overall.
Would you consider another trip to Antarctica with Swoop?
No
Would you be interested in travelling to Patagonia with Swoop?
Yes
Would you be interested in travelling to The Arctic with Swoop?
Yes
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Be aware that the costs are very high and that the chance of cancellation of excursions is also very high. For those interested in kayaking, they should have a good idea of what to expect to determine if it is worth the costs. Otherwise, the trip was as expected.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I certainly saw a lot of new wildlife which was great.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Overall, Swoop was great. There was quite a bit of handing off between Swoop team members as to be expected with the number of years we worked together on this voyage. However, the transitions were pretty seamless. One suggestion I would make if possible is to make the Swoop live informational video done a week or so before the voyages more specific to the vessels going on. It felt like a lot was "it depends on your ship."
Was there anything else Swoop could have done for you to help you prepare for your trip?
For this particular voyage, I'd be more explicit with those wanting to kayak so they know what to expect in terms of not only how much time on the water but all of the safety precautions and limitations while being out on the water. For some it is fine, but others might find it too costly or limiting. Also, Swoop told us to be prepared to pay tips to the staff of about $10 USD per person per day, however, I may have missed it, but I do not recall Swoop mentioning that a separate gratuity was expected for the expedition team as well. It may be good to make that clearer in the literature.
