Our first landing in South Georgia when the king penguins just walked up and greeted us on the beach. It still makes me grin and tear up to think of it!

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Excursions were great and provided some of the trip’s most memorable moments. Sometimes conditions felt challenging but the expedition and ship staff were always safe, steady, and reassuring.
Tell us about the expedition team
They taught us so much and clearly loved doing it. Hannah Lawson is a tremendous leader. Hannah J, the historian, shared the gift of her own experience in Port Lockroy and Grytviken. Ruth Peacey is a skilled documentary filmmaker whose deep caring for penguins and the Antarctic shines through. Doing citizen science with Marco and Nicole was a treat. They were all wonderful!
Tell us about the Seaventure
Loved the Seaventure. The staff were so warm and friendly. Our triple cabin was very comfortable and we never felt cramped. The food was good and very plentiful. We marveled at their ability to have such a varied menu. Would happily travel on this ship again.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Polar Latitudes is great! And make the time and find the money to go to South Georgia, it was the best part of the trip.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Being close to such immensity and wildness is life-changing.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Working with Swoop was good and we appreciated Kate’s help. The website is super informative. You certainly matched us with the right trip. I’m just bummed we never got a Swoop buff!

Very much so.
