On a scale of 0 to 10, how likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend or colleague?
8 out of 10
On a scale of 0 to 10, how would you rate your trip: Crossing the Antarctic Circle?
10 out of 10
Tell us about the wildlife
Due to a heavy snow season that kept the rocks covered we were still able to see penguins, seals, humpback whales, and birds in abundance.
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Zodiacs were safe and necessary to get onto land but also fill an afternoon if no good landing site was available.
Tell us about the expedition team
Expedition team were extremely knowledgeable and on task with any inquiries you might have. There were years of experience as the team had been in Antarctica a number of times. Flo, Daniel, John, and Ashley stand out as always willing to converse and share their knowledge.
Tell us about the Greg Mortimer
The Greg Mortimer was the perfect size ship for this adventure and the cabin was quite nice. Food was good but probably ate too much! Most important was the staff - they were absolutely wonderful. After no being able to work during Covid they were as excited as we were to be on the trip. Some had never been to Stonington station at 64 degrees and actually went ashore as well.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Go out of Punta Arenas and fly the Drake providing more time on the Peninsula.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
This is a small world and climate change is for real. It was wonderful to spend time in one of the few "undisturbed" places left on this planet.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
We had a wonderful "greeting note" at the front desk that told us to enjoy our document holder. Unfortunately there was none. If there was some concern it would be the communication between Swoop and Hotel Cabo De Hornos. I actually was in direct communication with the local Aurora Expeditions for some information.
Was there anything else Swoop could have done for you to help you prepare for your trip?
Zoe was an exceptional help with the Eco -Camp portion of our trip. I would recommend that as well - if someone is all the was down to Chile it was a real nice add - on.
