Yes
Tell us about the wildlife
Penguins, whales, seals, - everything one expects and more. Favourite encounter was the four humpback whales that surfaced and circled the Ocean Tramp for at least 30 minutes or more. Plenty of photos were taken by all.
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
We enjoyed the excursions and yes, felt very safe. Ese and Simon are professional seaman. No one zodiac cruise stands out. They all were exciting, interesting, and fun - no matter the weather.
Tell us about the expedition team
The Expedition team starting with Juan who marshaled us to King George Island to Captain Dave, First Mate Simon, Steward Mack, Ese, and Chief Janey were extremely professional, knowledgeable, friendly, funny, safe, respectful and helpful. I miss them everyday.
Tell us about the Ocean Tramp
The Ocean Tramp exceeded our expectations. It was fun and thrilling being on a yacht in the rolling waters of the Antarctic. I would readily sail on the Ocean Tramp again. The food was tasty and plenty - at time a bit spicy for my seasick stomach but Janey provided alternatives when asked. Joe and my cabin was a bit odd. It didn't have a door rather a curtain separating us from the person in the Beagle cabin. The Beagle has door which opened directly into our area. Fortunately we got along well with Peter so no issues. However I think another couple might have had issue with the lack of privacy.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Provide webinars one year, six months, and two months out. Don't wait until just before the journey. Acquire clothing and other items takes time. The list helped but being able to discuss with a real person would have been better.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I continue to love the polar regions and am in the process of planning an Arctic expedition.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Improve communications. Once I paid the deposit I felt as if I was no longer of concern or interest.
Was there anything else Swoop could have done for you to help you prepare for your trip?
Improved how and how often we communicated.
