What was your most memorable moment?
There were so many, it's impossible to pick one. The accommodations and equipment was top flight. The expedition leaders were exceptional -- SO knowledgeable in their fields, competent, inclusive --- their lectures were a high point when we were on the boat. Camaraderie among the passengers was also memorable --- such a diverse and eclectic group of travelers!!! The experience was unparalleled in every respect !

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Great ! Very safe, equipment was first rate. A 3 minute "moment of silence" in an iceberg-filled bay, surrounded by the spectacle of the continent was the most meaningful for me.
Tell us about the expedition team
To say that our expedition leader, Pippa, was "superb" is the understatement of the decade. All of the teams were competent, and so incredibly knowledgeable in their "microfields" of interest (eg, plankton, diatoms, antarctic geopolitics, global shipping, etc. etc. etc.) They mingled with the passengers at every opportunity -- sitting randomly with guests at dinner rather than keeping to themselves. The lounge in the evenings was a raucous, friendly, SOOOO enjoyable "pub" experience every night --- Just Terrific !!! Acquaintances and friendships were made that, hopefully, will last and grow. Having the Race the Planet runners on the boat, while it was a logistical problem for the crew, was an additional component that added so much to the experience.
Tell us about the Hondius
Fabulous ship. Cabin was so very comfortable -- appointments were above expectations. Drink prices were very reasonable. Open bridge was a terrific surprise -- especially given our location! Food service was excellent...as an American, the food was a bit more "European" than we're used to --- not a bad thing --- and the challenges of carrying that much food without opportunity to replenish supplies must be so very difficult
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Be flexible and prepare to embrace whatever presents !

Continue to advocate for responsible stewardship of the area as tourism increases.
