What was your most memorable moment?
I don't know if I can pick one - even 10 days later. The BBQ on the deck, the zodiac tour in the snow with humpbacks, polar plunging, the penguins, the Lamaire Channel, for sure! Every day had something shocking and wonderful and glorious and we really tried to just experience each day. We lucked out with weather and lack of motion sickness, so the entire trip felt charmed.
Which of the following best describes your adventure?

Yes
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Loved them, felt safe at all times, and they were all memorable in different ways. Can't choose!
Tell us about the expedition team
I loved all the history lectures from Danny as I am a historian, but I went to every lecture and got something wonderful out of all of them. They were designed to reach a broad audience and that's difficult to do. I really loved all of the team - Leonie was a wonderful science coordinator, Scotty's love of whales made me fall in love with them, too, and his eagle eyes at spotting them benefitted us all. Kalle's photography will be something I always cherish. Some of my favorite dinners were those spent with members of the expedition team. Such interesting and thoughtful folks.
Tell us about the Seaventure
It was great and yes! It has everything you need and more.
Something Else?
The owner was on the ship and I appreciated how he participated, listened, and has created a company committed to sustainability and to obtaining and retaining such talented folks. They all spoke to how much they love to work for the company and I respect that.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Just go. And have very few expectations. Even if you have bad weather and can't do excursions, look out your window and be in awe of what you're experiencing. Be open to wonder and let everything else go.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
In more ways than I can count. I am having trouble re-entering the world, honestly. The sheer expanse of Antarctica - the remoteness, the icebergs, the animals - from krill to whales - feels more important to protect and honor than ever. It was a sacred experience.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
No
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Very - no questions - everything was clear. Oh, one note, I do think as a plus size traveler that we have some extra concerns and questions. I think mentioning that they can make the boots work or that there will be extra sizes of coats available or... all of that would have alleviated some worry I had right before the trip.
