Tell us about Zodiac excursions

The zodiac excursions were phenomenal. However, one thing that was a bit frustrating was the constant clicking of cameras. It seemed many could not just sit back and enjoy the moment of what they were saying, but rather trying to catch every minute on video and with cameras, I would suggest that possibly a zodiac is reserved for those who want minimal photography. I know that would be a hard thing to enforce, but I know there was some other passengers that were frustrated with the same thing. We all want to get some pictures of our trip but most spent 95% of their time taking pictures and videos and not really Soaking in what they were seeing. To the expedition leaders credit they mentioned this several times to take time to just enjoy the moment.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

To bring wet shoes for the polar plunge to sit back and enjoy the moment when you are on the zodiacs rather than spending the majority of your time taking videos and photos.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

As a person who has been to 146 UN countries, this was one of the most memorable and awesome trips I have ever taken it certainly change my perspective about nature and keeping things preserved. It is a hard balance, striking tourism with nature on one hand, you don’t want these places to get too over visited, but on the other hand, you want to experience Antarctica

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

Again the team was fantastic. Everyone gets an A+. No one disappointed. I did mention about my frustration with passengers, not taking more time to enjoy the moment rather than bury their faces in cameras. A minor detail about the showers on Hondius is that the shower doors should have a inside clip to hold them in place in case you need to exit the shower briefly or for that matter just getting out of the shower as if the sea is rough the shower door bangs against the wall

How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?

I felt pretty prepared. The only thing I wish I would’ve brought was water shoes for the polar plunge swoop did an excellent job of listing things to bring.
