Overall, how was your trip?
Very pleased with the ship's operator - the expedition staff were first class. Highlight - - - as on the previous trip, South Georgia A pity that we 'lost' 3 days because of the weather - - - but you've got to take what Mother Nature throws at you.
In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?
Our trip to the Falklands, South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula was a repeat of one we did in 2008 - - - it was excellent 10 years ago and just as good this year (apart from the weather).
Would you visit again?
Yes
How was the service that Swoop provided?
Very good We were particularly impressed with the proactive response when our return flight from Buenos Aires to Frankfurt was delayed by 8 hours.
How likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend?
10 out of 10
You chose a/an experience. How was that experience?
Very pleased with the ship's operator, the Hebridean Sky and the expedition team. With hindsight we'd have preferred a cabin midships.
If Swoop arranged some of your travel before/after your voyage. How did we do?
Re Brick Hotel, Buenos Aires - public areas good - rooms a bit 'tired' (especially the bathrooms!). My wife has written a 2 star TripAdvisor report about it. As previously stated, we were very impressed with the proactive response re the flight delay from Buenos Aires to Frankfurt. We booked a private milonga evening excursion - excellent. Overall very pleased with the service we received from Swoop.
How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?
Overall difficult to fault. Highlights: albatross colony on West Point, Falklands - King Penguins at Fortuna Bay, Gold Harbour & Salisbury Plain - gentoo 'highways' on the slopes of Damoc Island
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
If you don't visit South Georgia you're missing the 'jewel in the crown'. When we did this trip in 2008 the expedition leader in her opening remarks described South Georgia as 'the place where God goes for his holidays'. Re the next question - - - I take video
