Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Zodiac tours were excellent, tours viewing whales close up perhaps most memorable. I did feel safe throughout.
Tell us about the expedition team
All the expedition team were knowledgable, friendly and very approachable. I particularly liked the the fact that they fully integrated with guests throughout meal times so we could get to know them. I would mention two staff members particularly Richard the mountaineering guide and the kayak leader. Of Course the head of the team Carlo was excellent. My favourite lectures were 1. from John, a geochemist guest on the volcanic island and 2. life cycle of penguins.
Tell us about the Plancius
Yes it did. Cabin was larger than I expected, bathroom facilities were good. Tough however in Drakes Passage! Food was excellent. I would use the ship again.

The whole experience surpassed my expectations, thank you Swoop.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Only small things 1. I chose a late summer voyage, perhaps I should have been slight earlier in the season. 2. Clearly some of the activities are weather dependant, not sure if I fully realised this. 3. The level of skills and experience required to do the activities was I think over stated in the pre reading material. Most people can do most of the activities.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Yes I believe it has made me even more environmentally aware.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
There were several changes in support staff, initially I was allocated a Florida based person which made timing difficult for calls. I received several itineraries which contained errors. I had an interim support person and then eventually Sarah. I don't think I ever did speak to Sarah, I felt a little isolated on occassions. The event planner needs to be more intuitive and current.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Yes I was well prepared and excited.
