Tell us about the Magellan Explorer
This boat was wow. I've never been on a cruise before and now I suspect I'll never be satisfied on a lesser cruise. It was nice having only 60 or so passengers.
Tell us about the expedition team
Mike, Karen, Willy, Sophie, Annaliese, Ken, Bill, and then rest of the expedition staff were so professional and knowledgeable and everyone had a very clear skillet they brought to the table
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Unbelievable. The weather was so nice that the zodiac rides were all incredibly calm and memorable.
Tell us about the wildlife
Seeing the pod of +15 type B orcas swim UNDER the cruise ship was a sight I will never forget.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Polarized sunglasses and good binoculars and your set.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I didn't really know what to expect, so having been there really makes it all make sense.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Some of the info was outdated but the changes were so recent that I don't fault the swoop team. There was no walk from the flight to the zodiac, they have vans as of 2 weeks ago or so. Our boat had trekking pole available on each landing, so I was glad I didn't pack them. Southern most brewery in Puntas Arenas was closed to visitors.
Would you consider another trip to Antarctica with Swoop?
Yes
Was there anything else Swoop could have done for you to help you prepare for your trip?
We were not prepared for the way our trip was cut short for weather. It felt extra short because we were not told until AFTER our last excursion so it was too late to appreciate it.
