I felt very safe and welcome in the kayaking excursion especially after signing up at the last minute when I arrived there!
Tell us about the expedition team
Extremely hospitable, knowledgeable, and welcoming. By the end of the trip they all felt like gurus to me and will have a long lasting impact on me. Truly inspiring humans.

BEAUTIFUL ship. I am forever spoiled with expectations of ships like this. Amazing design and easy to navigate.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Definitely ask ahead of time for clarity on signing up for excursions. I was not informed of exactly how to sign up prior, and was a bit worried I would not be able to sign up when I arrived. Luckily I was able to join there, and paid the $995 up front. On a side note, we were promised a refund of $300 since we did not kayak as much as anticipated (due to of course the weather conditions). I am awaiting an email response regarding that refund, but since it’s the holidays I am not surprised/rushed to have gotten an email response just yet. (Just wanted to note this!) I am so delighted with the kayaking excursion and so thankful to have participated. The leaders were absolutely amazing, and made it worth every penny and more.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
My experience has definitely inspired me to continue traveling solo when I feel the need or get the opportunity. It has reminded me to live curiously and boldly, and as I mentioned, I would love to write a formal testimonial!
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
As noted above, just more clarity from the coordinator as to sign up for excursions. I think I was overly worried just prior, that there would be no space left for me to join the kayaking.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Very prepared and excited due to all the resources provided.
