Yes, but spending time on kayaks is the way to do it!
Tell us about the expedition team
Very interesting bunch of characters, knowledgeable and competent! I enjoyed chatting with most of them.
Tell us about the Seaventure
A smaller ship is the way to visit Antarctica. Seaventure is starting to show her age, bit she is still a very safe and comfortable ship.
Tell us about the Kayaking
WE LOVED IT! The immersive kayak experience is really the best way to be off the ship. It means smaller groups, less noise, and being closer to mother nature. Doubling the number of available kayaks (and guides/zodiac) would make more people happy, while still providing this sense of exclusivity.
Tell us about Ushuaia
I visited Ushuaia 16 years ago in 2007 and can see that the city is growing, not only in size, but also in the number of tourists and ships present. I'm afraid that in just a few more years it will become like the Galapagos for example, "just" another mass tourist place. It is a shame, but unfortunately very difficult to avoid.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I didn't think I would want to go back to Antarctica, but now, just a few days later, yes I would like to go back there, sooner than later, and for a longer period/trip. I am also much more receptive to issues concerning Antarctica.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Thanks to the tips, videos and checklists, I felt well prepared for the trip.
