Karen's Trip Date:
26th Feb - 18th Mar 2025
What was your most memorable moment?
Humpback and Minke whales surfacing close to ship and zodiacs. They seemed as curious and interested in us as we were in them.
Which of the following best describes your adventure?
Great holiday
On a scale of 0 to 10, how likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend or colleague?
9 out of 10
On a scale of 0 to 10, how would you rate your trip: South Georgia, Antarctica and Falklands Explorer?
8 out of 10
Were Swoop right to recommend Polar Latitudes?
Yes
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
The Zodiac excursions were well-run and the staff very attentive to helping guests in and out of the moving boats BUT there were really too many people in each Zodiac. We generally had about 10 passengers which the boats could accommodate, but it made it very difficult to take pictures. Fewer people per boat would be better. I realize this would mean that more staff or more round trips would be needed for landings, but it would make for a more enjoyable and memorable trip.
Tell us about the expedition team
The expedition team was friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable about their various areas. They could do a better job in mixing with and joining guest at tables for meals.
Tell us about the Seaventure
The ship was OK. It could definitely use more electrical outlets in guest staterooms. With all of the electronic gear people have that need to be charge up, it was difficult to keep everything charged. It would also help to have plug converters available on the ship. Since the outlets seemed to be mostly Europoean style plugs, it made it even more complicated for North American travelers. It would also have been nice to have access to the bow of the ship for photography during part of the voyage so that you could see wildlife as it approaches the ship instead of as it passes behind the ship.
Something Else?
A "light dinner" option similar to the "light lunch" option would be nice. It is not always necessary to have a full, multi-course meal. While you can certainly pick fewer courses, sometimes something lighter would be nice. The gift shop seemed poorly stocked with limited items and limited sizes. I suspect this is because it was the last voyage for the season in Antarctica, and they were not replenishing inventory, but that should not make a difference. Passengers at the end of the season should have the same options as those at the beginning.
Would you consider another trip to Antarctica with Swoop?
Yes
