Tell us about Zodiac excursions
The zodiacs were safe but that was due to the skilled guides who were ever cognizant of the weather and tide conditions. We got close to icebergs, whales, penguins, and seals.
Tell us about the expedition team
The expedition team was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Stand outside were expedition leader George and Jess. George has unlimited energy, operates with safety as his first priority, is very good at putting a positive and realistic spin on uncontrollable conditions, and did an excellent presentation on the politics surrounding Antarctica. Jess is incredibly knowledgeable and presents information so well. I could listen to her lectures and zodiac talks for hours.
Tell us about the Hondius
Our cabin and bed was very comfortable! The food was excellent. I was so happy to see so many fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the trip. I would definitely choose this ship again.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Don't bring snow boots, they aren't used and just take up extra room in your luggage. We tried a new seasickness medicine and had an allergic reaction. I wish we had brought more medicine that we knew was safe for us. Wearing a balaclava was perfect to keep our face warm.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
We felt very prepared.
