Barbara's Trip Date:
8th Mar - 17th Mar 2017
Barbara's Ship:
MV UshuaiaOverall, how was your trip?
The trip was amazing. I took 3 girlfriends with me and we had a blast. Spring Break 2017! (J/K it was not a Spring Break holiday) We met so many amazing people who had fabulous stories to tell, and the crew was just as fun too. My highlight was landing on the continent in Paradise Bay and going to Deception Island. That water is freeeezzzinnngggg. We repeatedly said we felt like we were on an ocean safari we saw so much wildlife everyday. We also had the most amazing weather. LOVED IT!
In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?
Antarctica was the trip of a lifetime!
Would you visit again?
Yes
How was the service that Swoop provided?
Swoop was awesome. I had shopped around with who I wanted to work with for this trip and after looking at prices and experiencing customer service, I went with Swoop. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and they made it all so easy and wonderful for us. We knew we were taken care of before the trip. The Ushuaia was the best- we felt they made a great decision with that ship. SERIOUSLY. They also sent us fabulous neck gaiters we wore the whole time.
How likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend?
10 out of 10
How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?
All of it was great. I only wish we had landed on the continent more than once, and I would have traded that for seeing another station any day. Other than that I felt that I saw everything I was told that we would see! The icebergs were my FAVE.
How would you describe {vessel.title} if talking to somebody potentially interested in going to Antarctica, and what tips would you pass on?
We were so pleasantly surprised by this cruise. None of us knew what to expect... but we were blown away! We had a triple cabin and it did not have bunk beds, which made us sooooo happy. We also had a private bathroom and space, so we were really pleased with the room. The meals were great, and the boat was easy to navigate. The only semi-negative thing I would say is that you are unable to do/ get laundry done in the 9 days you are on the ship. Also- as a warning.... You have to disembark fairly early on the last day and they have a party the night before, so if you are anything like us you will be hungover the next morning wandering the streets of Ushuaia feeling like death. That being said we had so much fun and we loved everyday of it. Would totally (and have) recommend to anyone looking to get to that elusive continent.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
I would say... be prepared with the packing lists that Swoop provides. Make sure you have enough clean laundry to last you the 9 days. And keep an open mind to all the people on the ship- talk to everyone because they most likely have been to some amazing places... this is no one's first trip. My friends and I had the most amazing time, and I know almost everyone else on the ship felt the same way. BOOM!
