Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Getting out on the water in Zodiacs twice a day let us see things up close (seals, penguins, whales, icebergs...)
Tell us about the expedition team
All of the expedition leaders were knowledgeable, friendly, and ready to answer questions. We especially enjoyed our Zodiac outings with Astrid, Amber, Kelly, and Valerie.
Tell us about the Ocean Explorer
The ship was excellent. Comfortable and clean with excellent food. I would definitely choose this ship again.
Tell us about the Paddling
Paddling was one of my favorite parts of the trip. I wouldn't have wanted to do the everyday kayaking that some did, but getting out there once was definitely a highlight of the trip.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
If you're subject to seasickness, the fly-over-the-Drake option is a great alternative. Once you're in Antarctic waters, the seas are relatively calm.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I wasn't sure what to expect, but being down there was a literally awesome experience. Pictures don't do it justice -- being out on the Zodiacs or walking around on shore, you're in an environment unlike any you've ever experienced before.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Swoop was very helpful in our preparations for the trip. Emma answered all of our questions so that we were ready to go.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
I was definitely excited about the trip and had high expectations. The trip exceeded my expectations.
