What was your most memorable moment?

Arriving in the Antarctic and standing on the deck watching the icebergs drift by....walking on the ice for the first time! Hard to choose as there were so many memorable moments!

Were Swoop right to recommend Seabourn?

Yes

Tell us about Zodiac excursions

These were superbly organised and well planned. I loved going round the icebergs in Paradise Bay seeing the seals particularly.

Tell us about the expedition team

They were extremely knowledgeable, professional and always courteous. There were so many good lectures. I was disappointed not to learn more about Shackleton though.

Tell us about the Seabourn Venture

The cabin was superbly situated thanks to your advice and it was really comfortable. Yes I would choose the ship again. It had just the right kind of facilities though I thought the spa was extremely expensive!

Something Else?

I was disappointed to return early due the expected poor weather in Drakes Passage even though I think we had that weather anyway. I have a feeling this was due to the tight turn round that the boat had to make rather than entirely the comfort of the passengers because the Scenic boat was just half a day behind us and their weather was no better or worse than ours! We didn't get to go to South Shetland which would have been exciting but we did go a long way south and had a marvellous time. As we were back for a whole day early in Ushuaia it would have been good to have been directed to some nice walks in the area rather than just left to the town which is fairly grotty especially on a Sunday when most of the shops are shut.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

If I had my time again I think we should have opted for a trip which included South Georgia but when we booked there was a danger of Avian Flu and the islands being closed.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

I do now know I like expedition cruising but would hate a glitzy cruise on a larger boat! this was plenty of people for me!

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

I think it is important to remind clients that they are packing for outside conditions but remember you are going to spend several days at sea so remember indoor comfy clothes too! I think you should also be more explicit about baggage allowances as we thought wrongly that luggage had to be very limited on an internal flight in Argentina but the Seabourne charter would have allowed 2x 21 or 23kg each! Also passengers need to know that you will be giving in your luggage the night before you travel so you can make sure passengers have enough hand luggage capacity.

How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?

Well prepared and excited.
