Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Yes, enjoyed them more than I expected. Top marks for safety. When getting in and out of the zodiacs, there were guys holding us steady 2 in the zodiac, and 2 on the landing.
Tell us about the expedition team
Excellent range of lectures. Pitched at the right level. Guides were knowledgeable and constantly sharing info with us.
Tell us about the Lyrial, Boreal, Soleal and Austral
Le Soleal. beautiful ship. Cabin was,perfect, good storage, really comfortable etc. Food excellent. Good choices, beautifully presented and excellent standard.
Something Else?
The southern ocean is rough. Go prepared with medication for sea sickness. I have cruised the world and this was the first time I was sick.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Wear gloves that you can operate camera with. Bring hand warmers. Hands get very cold.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
The southern ocean is rougher than I expected. Be prepared for very rough journey.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Swoop were excellent.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Very well prepared. Dining is fairly casual. Only 3 gala evenings, one white, the other two needed a dress, but not a ball gown. Bring warm layers to wear on board too.
