What was your most memorable moment?
The morning we spent kayaking followed by an afternoon on the zodiac spotting both Orca and humpback whales.

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
The Zodiac trips were fabulous. The respective drivers took their responsibility for safety very seriously.
Tell us about the expedition team
The Expedition team were fabulous and so friendly. Of particular note we have to mention Maria Intxaustegi and Ian Jansma who were both so kind and helpful to all guests.
Tell us about the National Geographic Explorer
More than we could hope for - the food served was exceptional but more than that was the politeness of the staff. The two stars of the show were Pake our fantastic Captain who had such a wonderful sense of humour and our Hotel Manager, Anders who truly couldn’t do enough for us.
Something Else?
Yes, one observation would be regarding the organisation of the ‘wake-up’ call to have people ready for the morning Zodiac trips which would take place at 6.30am with advice breakfast is served from 7-00 to 8-30. However if one was designated to be on the later leaving party normally at 10-00 am why could more time not be scheduled for a longer sleep and a later breakfast say at 8-45 ? The process didn’t seem very flexible.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Honestly nothing that Swoop wouldn’t already have covered ! Having visited I now fully realise how one’s trip is so weather dependent. We really got lucky with mainly sunny calm days.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Definitely - in so many ways - ones that I will keep to myself!
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
The service has been thorough and excellent. However one small comment was that in advice given to us about cabin choice, the aspect of engine noise was never mentioned. With hindsight this would have been helpful.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Very - but not solely due to the advice of Swoop !
Would you consider another trip to Antarctica with Swoop?
No
