What was your most memorable moment?
Touching spots where Ernest Shackleton walked over 100 years ago. Visiting his grave was a real ‘bucket list’ check in the box.

Tell us about the expedition team
Pippa, George, Sasha, Jenny, Mark, Andy, Sasha, Gabby, Marcelo, and everyone else I’m forgetting introduced us to new worlds on a daily basis.
Tell us about the Hondius
The ship and its crew are without equal in my opinion. The Captain’s willingness to share his experiences, as well as the ability he demonstrated on a daily basis were nothing short of amazing.
Something Else?
I would like to see passive hydrophones deployed while at anchor so the sounds from the ocean could be added to the other sensory experiences.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Bring your curiosity. All of your questions will be answered by the crew/team. Also, we used Bonine as an anti seasickness medication. It was a true miracle drug…bring some.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Definitely. I have a much more in depth appreciation for the White Continent as well as its environs, and the challenges it faces in the future.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
I would only hope that all the ‘expedition’ teams could be as knowledgeable and energetic as our team was (from cabin stewards to expedition team, to ships company).
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
I could have, and should have prepared myself better physically. Excitement tinged with apprehension probably best describes my mental state upon boarding Hondius.
