Tell us about Zodiac excursions
I enjoyed them for the most part. It was a great way to see the local wildlife while killing time since only so many people are allowed on shore. The 2.5 hour ones were kind of a lot, though.
Tell us about the expedition team
George led that team and worked hard for all of us in a way that defied expectations! And I had high expectations! The entire team was experienced and clearly loved their jobs. I especially enjoyed Jess's lectures and it was always a treat to be on Valeria's zodiac!
Tell us about the Hondius
I would definitely choose this ship again! It was small enough to get to know a lot of people, had good buffets (the plated dinners weren't my favorite and lasted really long), and my shared cabin was comfortable even with 4 women in it. It's definitely no frills and I loved that!
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Make sure to book a ship that not only actually makes daily landings, but also offers other activities! You're only there once (probably)!
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Literally everyone on the ship I met was a world traveler like me. It was really unique and a good time of learning from peers and experiencing such a remote land together!
