What was your most memorable moment?
Seeing all of the wildlife was absolutely fantastic. The level of expertise of the staff on board and the quality of the excursions was one of a kind!

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
They were amazing. Having maximum 10 people in the boat really allowed you to always see the wildlife and have the best experience. The excursion staff were amazing like I’ve already said and the level of expertise they had on board was phenomenal.
Tell us about the expedition team
Really friendly I’m really knowledgeable and there were some really big names on board in terms of what they’ve done with their careers. There was not a single member of staff. I didn’t feel like I could have a conversation with or having a meal with and it made me feel really welcome as a solo passenger.
Tell us about the Ocean Explorer
I didn’t really have any expectations because I didn’t look at the ship as a key part of booking the trip. But the ship was absolutely amazing and everyone that I’ve shown has been really really impressed. The facilities were amazing including the gym and the hot tub.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Definitely look at the itinerary and make sure that you are happy with the amount of days that you have at sea. Doing three days on sea was enough for me so the fact that my itinerary was originally would’ve been too much.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I think it’s really made me appreciate the fact that we need to conserve the planet a bit more. It’s also made me realise that there’s so much more out there to explore and I can’t wait for my holidays.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
I felt really excited. But I didn’t feel like I was very prepared. I think that could’ve been better information especially for solo travellers who are doing this is part of a much bigger trip. More information on the rental gear and what some of the musts in terms of the weather would’ve been really helpful.
