Tell us about Zodiac excursions

They were incredible. I felt so safe and taken care of by the staff. They were always fun and knowledgeable and the ship staff made sure getting in and out was always super easy.

Tell us about the expedition team

The best people I’ve ever met. The expedition leader, Hannah, was phenomenal. They were all wildly knowledgeable and just super fun people to be around. Shoutout to Bex who drove us around on the zodiac all the time, Annette who also love Adelie penguins, Jason who taught us about volcanoes and calderas, Emilio who always made us laugh, Krista who kept us all on time and organized, Chau who never stopped smiling the whole trip, Vegar who took the most amazing pictures for us, John Paul who learned our names within a single day, and Jen who had the best jokes. I know I’m missing so many people who made this experience phenomenal and I’m so grateful to all of them.

Tell us about the Seaventure

We ended up in the owners suite after our original ship was canceled. This was a much more expensive room than we were anticipating, however, once we got on the ship we had no regrets. It was a beautiful room and ship. We were always comfortable and it was extremely clean. The captains were not only exceptional at their jobs but also extremely attractive. Thank you captain Nemo for steering us through the Lemaire channel and making us the first ship of the season to do so!!! I can’t imagine how hard it is to captain a ship of that size in Antarctic waters and ice so thank you!!

Something Else?

Zack and I had the most amazing experience and want to thank our Swoop coordinator, Carola, for working with us so hard to get booked on another ship that worked with most of our airline tickets. She spent a lot of time on the phone with us brainstorming and pulling different trip itineraries.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Work with a travel agency like Swoop! It didn’t become apparent to us how important this was until our boat was damaged and we needed to find a new ship!

How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?

Very prepared and wildly excited!! Most important things to bring: sunscreen, layers, and sunglasses.

Would you consider another trip to Antarctica with Swoop?

No

Would you be interested in travelling to The Arctic with Swoop?
