Akademik IoffeOverall, how was your trip?
I would say that the highlights were the landings and zodiac cruising. The landscape and wildlife were in a word amazing! Otherworldly! The expedition team MADE the experience... so informative and caring! I was surprised that the Drake crossing was SO SMOOTH! Wonderful Crew and perfect weather. The morning we spent on Useful Island... it was a pre-breakfast landing and it was just perfect... I will never forget it!
In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?
This trip was beyond anything I could have imagined! It has honestly changed me for good!
Would you visit again?
Yes
How was the service that Swoop provided?
I was very grateful that the Swoop team was able to get us on a very excellent substitute trip when our first trip was cancelled for reasons out of their control. The first trip we booked was exactly what we wanted.. but the replacement voyage was amazing and I doubt we would have found it without the help of Swoop. Our cabin was the last available from what I understand but the ship was so well appointed that our cabin was perfect for our needs. Very good prior to sailing... as mentioned above. I don't think you could have done anything differently, I am well satisfied.
How likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend?
10 out of 10
You chose a/an Fly & Cruise The Antarctic Circle experience. How was that experience?
This was not the trip that we ended up on due to the cancellation of the boat. We ended up on the Hiberdean Sky.. and would be happy to provide feedback for that but not sure that I should do it on this form as you might be crediting the wrong trip. Please send me another one for the voyage we actually took if you would like the feedback.
If Swoop arranged some of your travel before/after your voyage. How did we do?
The hotel we stayed in prior to sailing in Ushuaia was awesome! We took care of the other arrangements on our own.
How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?
The landings were definitely my favorite part of the trip! As mentioned previously I loved the landing at Useful Island which happened to be our last for the voyage. Also the stop at Deception Island was incredible... mostly because of the history that was shared by Seb our Expedition Team Historian. I saw more animals than I had even hoped for... so many types of seals, penguins and whales! GREAT! The icebergs were haunting.. in the best possible way! I can't say enough good things about the expedition team... Especially the Team Leaders Pablo and the Assistant Team Leader Marela and of course Seb who I found the most interesting in his lectures and experience!
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
It has definitely inspired me to lie differently with respect to doing my part to protect the environment. Also will be following sites like HappyWhale and expeditions such as HeartsintheIce. I definitely think that the ship's operator is excellent... I would definitely travel with them again as they are eco-conscious and hiring amazing staff.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Do it! Go Now! Don't Wait!
Is there anything you would recommend we change to make trips like yours more environmentally sustainable?
Not that I can think of...
