MS AdventurerOverall, how was your trip?
Overall, excellent. I love the landscapes; the vast watery, icy nothingness. There was a lot less wildlife than I had expected, as we really was not that far down south at 68degrees. The most magical moment was when a humpback swam under the zodiac I was in, and I could see clearly its fins and white body, so close that I could almost touch it. I wish I could have reached out to stroke its body as it reared up its head near the zodiac!
In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?
Antarctica was everything I had expected, and more!
Would you visit again?
Yes
How was the service that Swoop provided?
I was very pleased that I had David and Cobra on this voyage. Their knowledge and experience were an asset through the journey as we searched for excursion opportunities. I do wish they had circulated with the guests more especially during each meal time. Such a wealth of stories they could have shared. With the exception of a select few, the knowledge of the concierge(s) on location and wildlife were sorely lacking. They should have been briefed, in detail on the wildlife, with mandatory reading. There are only a few and could not have been so hard to get up to speed on. They should also be briefed each night or day on the upcoming excursion location. Very disappointed that they really were no more than zodiac drivers, and unable to answer even the most basic of questions. Swoop had played no part in my choice of voyage, ship or cabin Swoop services prior to voyage was standard and generic (this is not my first voyage with swoop). That said, the info provided was sufficiently succinct.
How likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend?
8 out of 10
You chose a/an Discovering the Antarctic Peninsula experience. How was that experience?
For a first voyage to the Antarctica, it suffice. I do find the overall experience, whilst excellent, was too cruisy. I was looking for something more of an expedition type. Whilst I would recommend it as I think this voyage provides sufficient depth, I personally would be looking for another voyage which will take me further south and tard more adventurous. I would also prefer a smaller ship. The number of guests on the Resolute limited the amount of time we have on shore during the excursions. There just was not enough time allocated for each of the shore excursions. I had to choose between a hike or penguin observation on the beach. At best I cover 50% of what I would have liked to experience.
If Swoop arranged some of your travel before/after your voyage. How did we do?

How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?
Too many people to a zodiac. Most are photographers and having 8 to 10 persons onboard limits our ability to photograph without getting into each other's hair. Insufficient time allocated to shore excursions due to large number of guests. Concierge(s) do not have sufficient knowledge of location and wildlife
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Understand voyage itinerary well. To reach below the Antarctic circle will mean long sailing days, with minimal wildlife. Wildlife enthuse may consider this wasted days.
