Overall, how was your trip?

Incredible with truly memorable experiences, ranging from watching icebergs roll to cuddling with a baby elephant seal.

In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?

Antartica is one of the most beautiful and interesting places I have been to.

Would you visit again?

Yes

How was the service that Swoop provided?

Yself and the rest of my travel party was incredibly impressed with our staff and crew. Our expedition leader Don, was a tour de force, incredibly knowledgable, fun, approachable and his excitement as well as the rest of the team radiated throughout the journey. It was moving to see so many individuals who love what they do and get just as excited as us newbies about spotting a seal, whale or fantastic iceberg. Don is also what I would deem, the kind of traveler I aspire to be, reminding the passengers to occasionally stop taking pictures and just really experience the moment rather than trying to document it.

How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?

The abundance of wildlife as well as our incredible expedition team made for a remarkable experience. Roger, our expedition naturalist, was insightful, exciting, sweet and incredibly impressive. His knowledge, background and lectures really set the context for the entire voyage. Making us feel part of more than just a trip but of an amazing lineage of history and exploration.

How would you describe {vessel.title} if talking to somebody potentially interested in going to Antarctica, and what tips would you pass on?

On board our ship was also the doctor JB, I cannot stress enough how wonderful he was to me and the rest of my family and cabin roommate. The first night both my roommate and I were suffering from sea sickness and JB was incredibly attentive, kind, and even brought us our dinner from the dinning room to make sure we got some. Besides this nice first experience, he was a joy to have on the zodiacs and on shore, teaching me about elephant seals. Another area where he and the rest of the team excelled was catering to my father, he was so looking forward to this trip but unfortunately is not the young man he once was and developed a cold on the voyage. He was desperate to see seals but was also not feeling well enough to commit to a three hour excursion, when possible, the staff was so kind as to take him directly to the seals and allow him to have is time and let him depart early if he was not feeling well. This kind of customer attention and kindness really set the ship's operator apart to me. The entire staff was upbeat, kind, interesting and lovely to have around. Even our chef Alan was incredibly kind and so concerned about his food preparation and catering to the needs and tastes of the passengers. Lastly, I want to mention the Russian Crew. Captain Yuri, the chief engineer and Chief Mate Sergey, were phenomenal. Besides being experts in navigation, they were so willing to talk and educate me and my family, in regards to sailing, navigation and stories of the Drake. Even when language barriers were an issue, their willingness to share their knowledge and wisdom was greatly appreciated.

If Swoop arranged some of your travel before/after your voyage. How did we do?

Everything was well organized and easy to follow.
