OrteliusWhat was your most memorable moment?
Waking up the first morning in Antarctica and walking out on deck surrounded by an untouched wild beauty that words can't describe.
Which of the following best describes your adventure?
Life changing
On a scale of 0 to 10, how likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend or colleague?
10 out of 10
Tell us about the wildlife
We saw four types of whales, three types of penguins, and four types of seals. Not to mention tons of ocean birds. So many amazing pics and videos! And lots of time to really enjoy the penguins in and out of the water.
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Felt safe at all times. Amazing when whales came right up beside or in front of the boat. The water was very calm and I never got wet. Easier to get in and out than I thought.
Tell us about the expedition team
The expedition team was one of a kind. They were incredibly talented and knowledgeable and would sit and discuss anything at length. My favorite lecture was on sounds on Antarctica given by Pippa and the lecture on the work Pierre was doing with whales. All of expedition team were amazing!!
Something Else?
I wish I could have spent more time talking to the expedition team about the work they were doing.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
We completely lucked out on our weather but be prepared for everything. Read all the information and make sure you bring the right gear. And make sure your physical fitness levels are good. Although internet is offered, unplug and just be there. It will make your experience all the more amazing.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
It changed me forever. It has driven me to continue my marine conservation efforts. To continue going to the remote corners of the world.
Do you have any recommendations or feedback for the Swoop team?
The information you provided was really great. It would be great if someone could take the time to separate the Arctic and Antarctic information. They are two different trips the info shouldn't be together.
