Island SkyWhat was your most memorable moment?
So many, but the most memorable was the humpback whale that came to our boat as we were getting ready to leave the Antarctic peninsula. The whale spent nearly 20 minutes entertaining the boat, and checking us out, not an inhibition in the world. We waved excitedly as it turned and fluked a final goodbye.

Tell us about the expedition team
Expedition team was awesome. We learned a lot and got to connect with many of them. Really impressive group. We were particularly impressed with Ben Osborne, the photography coach. Also, Adam. Adam is a remarkable story teller.
Tell us about the Island Sky
The captain and crew were just lovely. Well taken care of boat. The food was plentiful, maybe too plentiful, and delicious.
Tell us about the wildlife
Each day was better than the last. We got to see and experience so much in the way of wildlife. The expedition leader did a fantastic job ensuring that we got to see and enjoy so much wildlife.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Not really.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
It has, and I’m still mulling all of that over. The histories of human and wildlife interaction, the heroic age of exploration, climate change, stunning landscape. There’s a lot to process, a lot to think about.
